I recently discovered, Epocu An easy and free way to hype upcoming games & test new game concepts.

It's an awesome "kickstarter" mechanic for Social Network exposure...and it's FREE :)

The reviewing process takes about 2 days, the support is great, easy to use and just a great service.

Can you guys please support my project - http://epocu.com/campaigns/dude-dancer/

Cheers

There is another thing like this called thunderclap : https://www.thunderclap.it/

@Kobusvdwalt9 true true - but Epocu is Games Only.. makes it pretty cool.

Have you ever tried a thunderclap campaign?

No I have not. I feel its kind of redundant to a certain degree. Especially for games.
Like usually you try and promote your kickstarter cause you need money to make the game. In this case you promote the promotion campaign of the game. I feel like you could just as well have promoted your game from the start.

If there is a significant gain that only a platform such as thuderclap can provide you, like a million views from their home page, then I it makes sense. Otherwise I am not feeling it.

I don't know exactly how this works so please correct me if I am wrong.

Thunderclap is a waste of time.

I say that based on the experiences of others, but basically, it only looks good on paper. The real issue is that, in order to amplify your reach through thunderclap, you have to get people to sign up - and at that point, they're already aware of your project.
Communities on Twitter are quite closely-knit, too, so what tends to happen is that people sign up for thunderclap, the zero-hour arrives, everyone pushes out their messages, and they're mainly seen by followers that were already aware of your project in the first place.

That, plus the thunderclap literally only lasts for a few seconds, and then when new tweets come in, your message gets pushed further down. So the only people that are reached, really, are the ones that signed up in the first place, making the whole thing kind of pointless.

A far, FAR more effective strategy for twitter reach is to produce easily-consumed content (lists, short videos, demos) and get influential people to retweet those. That's been a winning strategy since the birth of the platform.

    Epocu works like this
    - create campaign
    - people "support" your campaign (support by Twitter or Facebook - this won't actually post to your social network)
    - if you reach your target in the days specified..THEN ONLY will it post via your supporters social networks.

You guys are totally right - my experience is as follows: I discovered Epocu, the idea of a social network burst was great, submitted the app, once approved... I realised that I have to share and ask for people to support the project myself anyway... not really the "magic" feeling one would expect. So it's pretty much the same as a single Tweet, FB post etc. and hoping people will find it interesting to pursue.

With this being said, posting on Epocu and/or Thunderclap still creates awareness, more "backlinks" etc. etc. So if it manages to get 1 or a 10 new users to see a game you created...then it's still a good thing.

I can't agree more. I started doing this a few weeks ago - it creates REAL followers, retweets, comments etc.
